ELPAC

The English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) replaced the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) in 2018.  This test will be given to any student that is identified as an English Language Learner.  This test measures the skills of English Learners in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.

Students new to the state of California and that have indicated on their home language survey that a primary language is a language other than English, will take the Initial ELPAC.  Other students that continue to be identified as an ELL, will take the Summative ELPAC which will be administered between February 1st and May 31st of 2019.

In order to better prepare your child for the ELPAC, please:  read to your child daily, have your child describe what they see in pictures and what is happening in the picture, talk to your child's teacher about things to work on at home, and discuss the importance of the test with your child.

For more information on the ELPAC, you can visit https://www.cde.ca.gov/Ta/tg/ep/.
