English Language Learners » ELPAC

The English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC) replaced the California English Language Development Test (CELDT) in 2018.  This test will be given to any student that is identified as an English Language Learner.  This test measures the skills of English Learners in Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking.

Students new to the state of California and that have indicated on their home language survey that a primary language is a language other than English, will take the Initial ELPAC.  Other students that continue to be identified as an ELL, will take the Summative ELPAC which will be administered between February 1st and May 31st of 2019.

In order to better prepare your child for the ELPAC, please:  read to your child daily, have your child describe what they see in pictures and what is happening in the picture, talk to your child's teacher about things to work on at home, and discuss the importance of the test with your child.

For more information on the ELPAC, you can visit https://www.cde.ca.gov/Ta/tg/ep/.

ELPAC testing for the 2018-2019 school year is fast approaching.  Student testing will be occurring during the months of March and April.  In order to better prepare your student, the California Department of Education has provided practice materials for parents and teachers to use.  Please look over these materials and practice the different concepts provided in your child's grade level.
