International Night was a fun-filled evening to celebrate true diversity at Lincoln Elementary. There was a broad representation of our diverse community that evening featuring activities/games, food and student performances. This is such a great evening...I highly recommend if you have never attended!
News & Announcements
Lincoln Elementary just keeps on snapping records! We again hit 100% PTA membership for the third year in a row and once again will join the prestigious Club 100 PTA. Also, we well surpassed our goal of 400 walkers at Pier-to-Pier and instead achieved 578 walkers. Dr. J will now face the student vote challenge...yikes!
Watch Dogs Pizza Night was a success as our dads came with their kids to have pizza, play games and learn about Watch Dogs. Watch Dogs is a program where dads volunteer for a full school day to support the campus. If you are interested, you can go to our Watch Dogs webpage under the Programs tab.
RBEF Blitz Investor Drive: Lincoln parents did it again! By raising $13,000 in the last 48 hours, Lincoln passed Tulita at the post to keep its trophy of most money raised among Redondo Beach Unified School District (RBUSD) Elementary schools. A big thank you to the 203 Lincoln families who invested a total of $73,265 in the education of the 10,000 students in RBUSD. This is 31% participation rate, 2nd highest behind Tulita. A big thank you to RBEF on-site advocate team (Tammera Barnas, Greg Kampanis, Laura Ligthart, Robyn Malcomb, Carla Sandoval, Kasey Stinson, Stéphane Ernoux, ) for their passion and commitment, to their spouses for their resilience in the last 4 weeks, to the PTA and Staff for their support.
Lincoln Elementary has had a tremendous start to school with your support. This year we will be diving into our Eureka Math and Amplify Science curriculum as well as focusing on intervention in math and reading. We have high expectations of ourselves and our students...with your support we will continue to reach our goals. Also, join PTA and support the RBEF Drive! Want to support your child in math? Practice skip counting with them! Ask them about it.
I would like to extend a BIG THANK YOU to Cathy Daniel, Balfour Beatty Company, and the Redondo Beach Kiwanis for volunteering on Sharefest on Saturday to paint a new mural on upper playground, install rock cover in the lower courtyard and remove rotting stumps. They worked hard all day and the projects came out great...thank you Lincoln community for your support. If you have a chance, check out their work.
This weekend Lincoln PTA went back-to-back with amazing events to celebrate mother/daughter and father/son. The mother daughter tea was a huge success as the ladies enjoyed tea and treats with dancing, music, and art. On the other side of town, the guys went bowling and took over two-thirds of the lanes at Bowlero. It was great to see our families out together and enjoying the Lincoln spirit!
We had over 120 students present their projects on a special evening of science. Students also got to participate in multiple hands-on activities, including slime and eco-friendly experiments with Mad Science of Los Angeles. Special thanks to Chicken Dijon for catering our events...yummy!
We celebrated the Healthy Heart Challenge with an amazing day of fitness and fun. Students participated in jump rope, cart races, sack races, dancing, obstacle courses, and more. We raised over $20,000 for the American Heart Association and practiced staying fit in the process. Thank you to teachers and parent volunteers for making this special day happen.
Dr. Seuss Night is a fun night of games, crafts, prizes, food, and most importantly, literacy! Our PTA puts together a magical night celebrating the infamous author and a love of reading. Special thanks to Robin Garfield, Jennifer Stenta, Kimberly Weiss, Jennifer Tan, Amy Mourad, Kelli Kampanis, and Cindy Nguyen for making it a special night.
